Applicable VT sales tax and public, educational and government surcharges apply. Universal Sports Network (USN) has been added to the Waitsfield Cable channel lineup. Universal Sports Network focuses its programming primarily on sports contested in the Olympic Games; including skiing, swimming, gymnastics, cycling, track and field, figure skating, bobsledding and triathlon. Valley ski celebrity Doug Lewis, USN sports analyst and two-time Olympian and World Cup champion will help keep fans up to date with all the news, analysis and musings from the alpine ski world. USN will air on Waitsfield Cable standard channel 37.
In addition, Waitsfield Cable customers can now watch CBMT (CBC – Montreal) in high-definition on channel 206. CBMT can also be viewed in standard definition on Waitsfield Cable channel 6 and is available to all subscribers. The Outdoor Life Network has come a long way since its beginning in 1995. From televising fishing shows and the Tour de France as the signature series, to becoming Versus in 2006 and acquiring the NHL as its flagship sport, to now becoming the NBC Sports Network. In addition, a new NBC Sports logo will be unveiled as part of the rebranding effort. Overall changes to the new logo are subtle, but signal a new beginning for the NBC Sports Group.

Tennis fans will be excited to learn that the Tennis Channel (channel 33) is now available to Waitsfield Cable Standard Service subscribers. Previously, the channel was part of the Preferred Service Package. The Tennis Channel has telecast rights to the US Open, Wimbledon, Roland Garros (French Open), Australian Open, Olympus US Open Series, ATP Masters Series, and many more championship competitions.

Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN) will launch on January 1, on Waitsfield Cable channel 80, formerly the Discovery Health Channel. Winfrey is refocusing her efforts on cable with a new network and a joint venture with Discovery Networks. OWN’s programming is designed to entertain, inform and inspire people to live their best lives. Programming includes a mix of original programs, with plans underway for weekly series, specials, original documentaries and acquired movies.
At launch OWN will have more than 18 original series including: Behind the Scenes: The Oprah Show Final Season, Oprah’s Search For The Next TV Star, and Ask Oprah’s All-Stars where fans can ask questions of Dr. Phil, Dr. Oz and Suze Orman, all together on one stage. Coming later in 2011, Rosie O'Donnell will return to daytime television with a daily one-hour show The Rosie O’Donnell Show and Sarah Ferguson, The Duchess of York, confronts her choices in life in the six part docu-series Finding Sarah. Waitsfield Cable customers can now receive VPR’s BBC World Service at 106.5 via the cable system. The BBC World Service provides the latest news, interviews, and on-the-spot features on a wide range of subjects. Waitsfield Cable subscribers can also tune into VPR at 107.9 and VPR Classical at 107.5 which was recently added last month.
According to Don Whitman, Cable TV Network Supervisor for Waitsfield Cable, “Waitsfield Cable believes in the value of Vermont Public Radio and is pleased to be able to offer our customers the very best VPR has to offer.” For more information, please contact the Waitsfield Cable Customer Service Department at 496-5800. The Major League Baseball (MLB) Network channel is now available to customers who subscribe to our Standard Service package in both standard definition (SD) and high-definition (HD). The MLB Network will air on channel 21 (SD) and on channel 221 (HD) for those customers with a high-definition set-top box and HD capable television.
MLB Network launched on January 1, 2009 and airs live games, original programming, highlights, classic games, and coverage of baseball events. The network will air 26 live games throughout the season. MLB Tonight is the live, nightly studio show that will be the signature program of the new network. The show will feature live look-ins of games in progress, updates, highlights, reporting and analysis. Click here to view our Channel Guide. Waitsfield Cable customers will now be able to hear improved reception as a result of a move to a digital feed from Vermont Public Radio (VPR) 107.9. A recent equipment upgrade will also make it possible for customers to receive VPR Classical at 107.5 via the cable system.
According to Don Whitman, Cable TV Network Supervisor for Waitsfield Cable, “We continue to make improvements to our all digital system, and by upgrading some equipment, we have been able to significantly improve the signal quality of Vermont Public Radio on our system. This technology has also enabled us to add VPR Classical, a station that fills the void created when VPR changed to their all-news and information format. We also have equipment on order to add VPR’s BBC World Service in the coming months.” Waitsfield Cable carries over 30 local and regional radio stations on the cable system. Subscribers of Waitsfield Cable service can simply plug their radio or stereo receiver into their coaxial cable connection using an FM splitter (available free to Waitsfield Cable customers) to receive these FM stations. Waitsfield Cable has just upgraded to the latest version of the i-Guide Interactive Program Guide (version A25 is the newest version available on Motorola set-top boxes). This release includes all of the features you were used to in version A24, plus enhancements that improve the consumer experience for Digital Video Recorders (DVR's), Search and Parental Controls. Here are a few of the enhancements:
DVR Enhancements: Auto swap between dual-tuner DVRs; an on-screen prompt to extend recording for a live program; clipping in the event two schedule programs overlap in time and both turners are in use, the DVR will automatically "clip" the beginning of the second program and note "clipped" in the DVR program list; and configurable skip forward/backward uses the "page up" and "page down" remote keys to skip forward or backward in 5 minute increments. Search/A-Z Title Search: The five character tumbler is replaced with a new keyboard, and consumers can also choose to save their searches for future use. Parental Controls: Newly designed Parental Controls Set-up Menu makes it easier for consumers to use and now includes TV Content Advisory Ratings which enables ability to block programs based on the level of violence, language, sexual situations and suggestive dialogue. Menu Screens: When a second menu page is available, a “More Choices” text will display on the screen. In addition, recent upgrades made by Waitsfield Cable have now made your Interactive Program Guide even faster and better. The guide now loads quicker during new installations and following power outages or if unplugged from electrical outlet. Also improved is the capability for extended look-ahead recording for subscribers with Digital Video Recording functionality. To access your account information, simply dial 496-1234 and enter your 4-digit PIN # (if you haven’t setup your own PIN, your default is the last four digits of your account number located on your billing statement). Follow the prompts and select the “Account Balance” option from the automated menu. Don’t forget that Waitsfield Cable also offers online access to your account, via the Internet - simply click on the "manage my account" link. Our online service offers additional capabilities, including the ability to view and pay your cable bill, view pay-per-view schedules, order a pay-per-view movie or event, and update your account information. Both of these services are free of charge. Waitsfield Cable now offers the convenience of online account access giving you the ability to view and pay your cable bill via the Internet. In addition, you now have the capability to view pay-per-view schedules and order a pay-per-view movie or event online. To access your account information, please enter your user name and four-digit pin.
